Our Mission
Because Christ first loved us,
we are called to be a
Giving, Loving, Congregation
serving our community through Him.

Welcoming Statement — Gethsemane Lutheran Church

Rejoicing in God’s abundant grace, we at Gethsemane Lutheran Church extend a special welcome to all in a world that is all too often an unloving and unwelcoming place.  We welcome all who are seeking God’s love and grace. We welcome all because God welcomes all, regardless of race or culture, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or relationship status. We welcome all without regard to addictions, physical or mental health, imprisonment,               socio-economic circumstances, politics, or anything that too often divides us. Our unity is in Christ.

Sunday Morning services are as follows:

- Sunday School at 9:00am

- Worship Service at 10:00am

Upcoming Events

MISSION FOCUS: From October til Nov 17, we will be collecting food for our Thanksgiving food baskets.  Among others, we will be
collecting for the Battered Women’s Shelters in St. Bernard and St. Tammany.
We have gift cards (thanks to a generous donation) to purchase turkey and/or
ham, so we just need to collect nonperishable sides – stuffing, mashed potato mix, rice, cans of gravy, vegetables, dessert mixes (like brownies), etc.

From November til right before Christmas, we will be collecting gift cards
for Angel’s Place.  Angel’s Place helps critically ill children and their
families with their needs in the greater New Orleans area.  They asked for
$10-$25 gift cards from the following:  Visa gift cards, Walmart, gas stations like Racetrac or Shell, and fast food/pizza places.  Angel’s place will take these gift cards and give them to families as they need. Please pray on this, and thank you for your generosity!

Nov 24 – Interfaith Thanksgiving Service and Potluck dinner, 5pm

Dec 8 – Annual Hanging of the Greens (kids’ program) and Christmas Cookie and Ornament exchange

Dec 14 – Save the date!  Interfaith Christmas Sing Along, sponsored by our Mormon friends.  More details to come.

Dec 15 – Last day to bring gifts cards for Angel’s Place AND Pulpit Swap – Pr. Chris Christopher from Grace Lutheran will come and preach and preside at Gethsemane, and I will go to Grace that Sunday!  (Just for fun!)

Dec 24 – Christmas Eve Candlelight worship – 6pm

Dec 25 – Lessons and Carols worship, 9am?
